FA 18/96-U Stearyl Alcohol DEO Grade MB is a biodegradable, high C18 content stearyl alcohol with small amounts of C16 and C20 all derived from vegetable feedstock. It is a waxy white solid with a mild soapy odor at room temperature, and finds widespread application as and opacifier, emulsion thickener/bodifier and stabilizer, viscosity stabilizer in stick applications. The small additions of C16 and C20 allow the ingredient to avoid crystallization when cooling a stick product during the manufacturing and filling process.
