Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen Cream

This formulation is designed to provide U.S. broad spectrum (critical wavelength ≥ 370 nm) performance. HallBrite® BHB aids wetting and dispersion of the Zinc Oxide and contributes to enhanced product feel. Olivem® liquid crystal making emulsifiers provide a stable emulsion while imparting sensorial and physiological benefits. This formulation was subjected to in vitro analysis and delivered SPF ~30, PFA (PPD) ~5 performance with critical wavelength 372 nm.

1To a secondary vessel add phase A, start mixing and heating to 75°C and add Phase B ingredients one at a time, in order.
2Mix phase AB well to ensure complete solution of souble material and even dispersion of the oxide.
3Add the water from phase C to the main vessel, dissolve the Disodium EDTA and, with continued mixing, add the Xanthan Gum.
4When the Xanthan Gum is fully incorporated, start heating phase C to 75°C and add phase D.
5When both phases are homogeneous and at their designated temperatures, slowly add oil phase AB to water phase CD with prop mixing.
6Homogenize the combined phases for 3 minutes, resume prop mixing and cool batch to room temperature.
7Replace any water lost to evaporation, mix batch until smooth and perform quality assurance checks.
