This formulation is designed to provide U.S. broad spectrum (critical wavelength ≥ 370 nm) performance. HallBrite® BHB aids wetting and dispersion of the Zinc Oxide and contributes to enhanced product feel. Olivem® liquid crystal making emulsifiers provide a stable emulsion while imparting sensorial and physiological benefits. This formulation was subjected to in vitro analysis and delivered SPF ~30, PFA (PPD) ~5 performance with critical wavelength 372 nm.

PREPARATIVE PROCEDURE
1 | To a secondary vessel add phase A, start mixing and heating to 75°C and add Phase B ingredients one at a time, in order. |
2 | Mix phase AB well to ensure complete solution of souble material and even dispersion of the oxide. |
3 | Add the water from phase C to the main vessel, dissolve the Disodium EDTA and, with continued mixing, add the Xanthan Gum. |
4 | When the Xanthan Gum is fully incorporated, start heating phase C to 75°C and add phase D. |
5 | When both phases are homogeneous and at their designated temperatures, slowly add oil phase AB to water phase CD with prop mixing. |
6 | Homogenize the combined phases for 3 minutes, resume prop mixing and cool batch to room temperature. |
7 | Replace any water lost to evaporation, mix batch until smooth and perform quality assurance checks. |
