Broad Spectrum Water-in-Oil Mineral SPF 50 Sunscreen Cream

This water-in-oil sunscreen cream provides broad spectrum (SPF/PFA ≤ 3), label SPF 50 performance without using organic UV filters. HallBrite® BHB in HallBrite® EZ-FLO TDX aids wetting and dispersion of the Titanium Dioxide and contributes to enhanced product feel. This formula was subjected to in vitro analysis and delivered SPF ~56, PFA (PPD) ~17 (PA++++) performance with critical wavelength 373 nm.

PREPARATIVE PROCEDURE

1To the main vessel add phase A and start mixing; disperse phase B into phase A and heat phase AB to 80°C.
2In a secondary vessel combine phase D, mixing until fully incorporated and heating to 50°C.
3When both phases are homogeneous, start homogenizing phase AB and very slowly add phase C to it.
4After phase C is well dispersed, very slowly add phase D in phase ABC under homogenization.
5Cool batch to room temperature with slowly continued homogenization.
