Oil in Water Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50

This “mineral UV filters only” oil-in-water SPF 50 sunscreen cream uses a combination of HallBrite® EZ-FLO ZDX Plus and HallBrite® EZ-FLO TDX to provide high UV protection. These oxide dispersions are highly stable and easily pourable, delivering elegant, smooth lotion consistency without any perception of particulates.  This sunscreen was subjected to in vitro analysis and delivered SPF ~54, PFA (PPD) ~16 performance with critical wavelength 379 nm.

PREPARATIVE PROCEDURE

1To a secondary vessel add phase A and start mixing, heat to 80°C, and then add phase B. Add phase C before combining with water phase.
2To the main vessel add phase D, start mixing and add phase E items in order.
3When solids of phase DE are fully incorporated, heat the phase to 75°C.
4When both phases are homogeneous and at their designated temperatures, slowly add phase ABC to phase DE with prop mixing.
5After 5 minutes start cooling batch and when batch is below 50°C add phase F items one by one with mixing.
6Continue mixing until batch is at room temperature, replacing any water lost to evaporation and mixing until smooth.
