Superb SPF 30 Sunscreen Cream

This broad spectrum sunscreen cream utilizes SolaStay® S1 to mitigate the photocatalytic and reactive oxygen species generating activities of the Titanium Dioxide and provides superb (SPF/PFA ≈ 1) protection from the burning and aging rays of the sun. Olivem® 1000 and Oliwax® LC provide a biomimetc base for the UV filters while HallBrite® BHB and Sensolene® contribute UV filter solvency and an elegant skin feel. This product was subjected to in vitro analysis and delivered SPF ~35, PFA ~34 performance, with critical wavelength 381 nm and a 5 star rating (UVA/UVB =  0.936 – 0.928).

1Add phase A to a secondary vessel, start mixing. Add phase B to phase A with continued mixing and begin heating to 80°C.
2When phase AB is fully dispersed, add phase C to phase AB, in order, and when homogeneous add phase D to phase ABC and mix well.
3Add the water from phase E to the main vessel and begin mixing. Then add the Disodium EDTA to the water and mix until fully dissolved.
4Once the Disodium EDTA is dissolved, add the Xanthan Gum and mix until fully incorporated. Begin heating phase E to 75°C.
5After phase E has been heated, add the phase F premix. When both phases ABCD and EF are at their designated temperatures, slowly add the oil phase (ABCD) to the water phase (EF) with prop mixing. After 2 min, homogenize for 3 min and then resume prop mixing.
6Start cooling and when batch is <50°C add phase G, mix well and continue cooling to room temperature, replacing any water lost to evaporation.
