Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30

This sunscreen lotion formulation with only mineral UV filters was designed to provide label SPF 30 performance. HallBrite® BHB is a superb dispersing agent for metal oxides and enhances product feel. This formulation was subjected to in vitro analysis and delivered SPF ~35 , PFA (PPD) ~10 performance with critical wavelength 377 nm.

1In the secondary vessel combine phase A, start mixing, add premix of phase B, and when fully dissolved add phase C ingredients.
2Heat phase ABC to 80°C and then add phase D ingredients in order and mix until uniformly dispersed.
3Add water of phase E to main vessel, dissolve Disodium EDTA and, with continued mixing, add Xanthan Gum.
4When Xanthan Gum is fully incorporated, start heating phase E to 80°C and then add premixed phase F.
5When both phases are homogenous and at their designated temperatures, slowly add oil phase ABCD to the water phase EF with prop mixing.
6Homogenize combined phases for 3 minutes and then resume prop mixing and start cooling.
7When batch is below 50°C add phase G, mixing well.
8Continue mixing until batch is at room temperature, replace any water lost to evaporation and mix until smooth.
