HallStar® EGMS 70 is an ester made from the reaction of triple pressed-grade stearic acid and ethylene glycol. It is a mixture of approximately 2/3 monoester and 1/3 diester. Its effectiveness as an opacifier and pearlizer is due to its near insolubility in aqueous systems.
Utilized at a level of 1% to 2% in cream and lotion (O/W emulsion) products, HallStar® EGMS 70 will contribute body, opacity and a soft velvety feel. Higher levels (up to 10%) can impart additional body, bringing the product towards a stiff paste consistency
All components of HallStar® EGMS 70 are listed in the following countries. Registration numbers for the active ingredients are included in parentheses: United States (TSCA listed), Europe (EINECS 203-886-9), Canada (DSL listed), Australia (AICS listed), Korea (ECL 2-1030) and Japan (ENCS 2-767).
