Biochemica® Cocoa Butter Refined is obtained from the fruit of the cacao tree (Theobroma cacao), which grows in tropical regions throughout the world. The butter is extracted from the seed kernels and is highly refined and deodorized with no perceptible odor, making it ideally suited for use in high-end cosmetics and toiletries where odor is an issue. It is a relatively hard butter with a steep melting curve, ideal for body care products. It may be incorporated to reduce cutaneous dryness and improve skin elasticity without imparting the odor normally associated with cocoa butter. The recommended use level is application dependent and is between 3 and 100%: Hair conditioners: 2-5%; skin care lotions and creams: 3 – 5%; bar soaps: 3 – 6%; balms: 5-100%.
