Mineral Mist SPF 60

This zinc oxide-only, water-in-oil SPF 60 sunscreen spray uses non-nano zinc oxide to provide UV protection. It boasts excellent sprayability and a light skin feel despite its relatively high ZnO load. HallSens™ DIAS is the sole carrier in the oil phase, helping to achieve outstanding dispersibility. Mineral Mist SPF 60 is stabilized with a single emulsifier—Olivem® 2090—and contains no high-melting-point materials.

In vivo testing conducted in a U.S. laboratory (3 subjects) yielded a static SPF of 63.25. The cold-process formulation was also subjected to in vitro analysis, delivering an SPF of approximately 52, PFA (PPD) 22, UVA1/UV = 0.84, and a critical wavelength of 375 nm.

PREPARATIVE PROCEDURE

1To the main vessel, add phase A with mixing until uniform.
2To a secondary vessel add phase B.
3When A and B phases are homogeneous, very slowly add phase B to phase A.
4After combination, strongly mix or homogenize for 10 minutes.
