Oil-in-Water Zinc Oxide-Based SPF 40 Sunscreen Cream

This oil-in-water sunscreen cream based on HallBrite® EZ-FLO ZDX Plus non-nano zinc oxide dispersion provides broad spectrum (SPF/PFA ≤ 3), label SPF 40 performance without using organic UV filters. This formula was subjected to in vitro analysis and delivered SPF ~44, PFA (PPD) ~17 (PA++++) performance with critical wavelength 379 nm.

PREPARATIVE PROCEDURE

1To a secondary vessel add phase A and start mixing, heat to 80°C and add phase B.
2To the main vessel add phase C, start mixing and add phase D items in order.
3When solids of phase D are fully incorporated, heat phase CD to 75°C.
4When both phases are homogeneous and at their designated temperatures, slowly add phase AB to phase CD with prop mixing.
5After 5 minutes start cooling batch and when batch is below 50°C add phase E items one by one with mixing.
6Continue mixing until batch is at room temperature, replacing any water lost to evaporation and mixing until smooth.
